ANDREA ROMAN
Graphic Designer & Letter artist
When I was studying Graphic Design at University of Buenos Aires, I discovered Typography as my favorite class. Through the years this interest became stronger and I began learning calligraphy and lettering with Silvia Cordero Vega. I am grateful to still have her as my closest teacher and friend.
At the same time I was doing projects as a graphic designer and enjoying being a teacher myself at the University. For 13 years I had the privilege to work as a Morphology and Typography professor. A deeper knowledge in these two areas gave me a profound connection between abstract composition, color and letter shapes.
Years later I moved to Canada.
Living in a new country allowed me to study with other great calligraphers as Brody Neuenschwander, Yves Leterme, Amity Parks and Yukimi Annand, among others.
I take inspiration not only from the calligraphy world but also from art. My work usually includes abstract calligraphy, drawing and other techniques as collage.
I love traveling, visiting museums and taking art history lessons because everything I see and learn can become a new influence in this endless process.
